Use landscape orientation for the host workspace
For dense controls such as schedules, search, playback buttons, and request lists, landscape mode generally provides more usable width. Lock the orientation after the application is positioned correctly so an accidental rotation does not interrupt the session.
Keep the tablet awake
Increase the auto-lock time or use an event-safe setting that keeps the device awake while it is plugged in. A locked tablet at the end of every song slows the host down and can interrupt browser or app behaviour depending on the platform.
Connect power before the event
Do not start a multi-hour session on battery alone. Use a reliable charger and position the cable so guests cannot trip over it. If the tablet also connects to an external display or audio interface, test whether the adapter can supply power at the same time.
Test touch and scrolling
Open every long page you expect to use and scroll from top to bottom. Test the schedule list, library, settings, and any page with nested scroll areas. If reorder uses drag gestures, move a non-critical item and verify that the list ends in the expected order.
Check browser and full-screen behaviour
Mobile browsers may show or hide their address and status bars as the page scrolls. If the product is installed as an app or progressive web app, confirm how full-screen mode behaves in that environment. Do not assume reinstalling an app automatically clears every sign-in state; operating systems can preserve secure credentials separately.
Use a stable network
Prefer a reliable Wi-Fi network with good coverage at the host position. If guests share the same network, test performance during a busy period or use a separate network where practical. Keep the device close enough to the access point that moving around the room does not cause repeated disconnects.
Reduce accidental interruptions
- Enable Do Not Disturb or an equivalent focus mode.
- Disable unnecessary notification previews.
- Close unrelated apps and media tabs.
- Turn off battery-saving modes that aggressively suspend the browser.
- Confirm volume buttons will not unexpectedly change the public audio path.
Do a five-minute rehearsal
Add a few test items, reorder them, start and stop playback, open full-screen or second-screen output, scroll the schedule, and confirm the tablet can recover after switching away and back. A short rehearsal catches most touch and layout problems before they become live-event problems.
