Understand the two-screen goal

The host screen and the audience screen have different jobs. The host screen needs controls, song order, requests, and operational status. The audience screen should show only the intended performance output. Treating the second display as a simple duplicate of the host screen often exposes controls and makes the public view harder to read.

1. Connect and identify the displays

Connect the television, projector, or external monitor before opening the performance view. In the operating system’s display settings, identify which display is the host device and which is the audience output. Use an extended desktop where possible rather than mirroring everything.

2. Check resolution and scaling

Set the audience display to a resolution it supports reliably. If text or video appears cut off, first check operating-system scaling and browser zoom. A display running at unusual scaling can look correct in one application but crop a full-screen web view.

3. Open the audience output deliberately

Use the second-screen or full-screen control available in the current Karaoke Pro build. After opening it, look at the physical audience display—not just the host preview—and confirm that the intended output is there. If host controls appear, exit the output mode and correct the display assignment before continuing.

4. Test one complete song

A proper test includes the beginning, middle, and end of a track. Confirm that video fits the screen, the audience display does not show browser chrome or host controls, and the next-item transition behaves as expected.

Do not skip audio testing. A second display can change the default HDMI audio device. If sound suddenly moves to the television when you intended to use a mixer or interface, select the correct output in the operating system before the event starts.

5. Prevent accidental duplicate playback

If the host view and second screen can both create playback, use the application’s intended output mode rather than opening two independent player tabs. Two independent playback engines can drift apart or create doubled audio. Keep one playback source and use the second screen as output whenever the product build supports that model.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • Public screen is blank: verify the external display is active and not on the wrong input.
  • Video is cropped: check display scaling, browser zoom, and full-screen mode.
  • Host UI appears publicly: exit mirroring/duplicate output and use the intended second-screen mode.
  • Audio duplicates: make sure only one playback engine is running.
  • Output appears one action late: close stale output windows and reopen the second-screen mode before restarting playback.

Before guests arrive

Restart the host device if it has been through multiple display changes, connect the audience screen, open Karaoke Pro, test one song, verify audio, then leave the system in the exact state you plan to use when the event begins.
